2005 exhibition

Over 8000 students submitted artworks as part of the 2004 Higher School Certificate Visual Arts examination.

Six distinct ARTEXPRESS exhibitions were selected from the 2004 HSC Visual Arts examination for display in 2005.

Five exhibitions were in metropolitan Sydney and an exhibition toured regional galleries throughout NSW until November 2005.

There were 857 students' works nominated for ARTEXPRESS.

Metropolitan exhibitions include:

  • David Jones store windows in Sydney
  • Art Gallery of New South Wales
  • College of Fine Arts, UNSW
  • Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre
     
    ... and a new venue for 2005:
  • Sydney Olympic Park

The six ARTEXPRESS exhibitions included the work of 289 students from schools across NSW. Regional touring exhibitions comprised of 85 works selected from the five metropolitan exhibitions and additional works selected for tour only.

There were works by 47 students in David Jones displayed in 31 windows in the Elizabeth and Market Street stores. The Art Gallery of NSW has works by 53 students; the College of Fine Art NSW, 44; Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre, 53. The largest exhibition will be the regional tour of NSW, consisting of works by 85 students and will tour until November 2005.

The works of 65 students of the 85 represented in the touring exhibitions are from country schools.

The regional tour visited six regional galleries and concluded in November 2005 at the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery.
