My concept explores children as victims. They are different genders and ages, their eyes are exaggerated exemplifying all they have seen, been through and know. The visceral drips and sudden splatters allude to tears, blood, violence and suffering. The empty background acts as a restraint preventing any escape. Their faces disappear through translucent watery drips representing invisibility. I’ve used traditional conventions such as portraiture and the gaze. But the subject matter is not an object of desire but the disturbing faces which expose the realities of the world hidden behind social constructs and ignorance.
