Framing question
Dennis has created an eerie atmosphere in his artwork through a use of scale and space. Compare Dennis’s approach to artmaking with De Chirico and Purves Smith and outline how these artists have incorporated elements of Surrealism into their work in order to convey a mood to the audience.

Journey into the Infinite

Journey into the Infinite explores my perception of salvation, and the seemingly intangible notion of eternity. It is an effort to express my experience of the Christian faith through ambiguous imagery, representative of my spiritual and intellectual journey through life, and attempts to comprehend our ‘infinite’ continuance after death. A fascination with De Chirico’s metaphysical cityscapes with the desire to express my Christian faith in an original way, led to the creation of tense almost unsolvable scenes, through a simple use of layered washes and expressive line and ‘scribble’ work (using black biros and charcoal).
