facts + figures- A total of 8,744 students submitted artworks as part of the 2006 Higher School Certificate Visual Arts Examination.
- Eight distinct ARTEXPRESS exhibitions have been selected from the 2006 HSC Visual Arts examination for display in 2007.
- Five exhibitions are held in metropolitan Sydney and an exhibition will tour to Grafton and Orange regional galleries throughout NSW until December 2007. Two separate regional exhibitions will be shown at Albury and Newcastle.
- There were 641 students' works nominated for ARTEXPRESS and from these 270 students works selected for exhibition. The 641 student bodies of work comprised of 7,107 separate artwork pieces.
- Metropolitan exhibitions include the David Jones department store windows in Sydney, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre, Sydney Olympic Park and the College of Fine Arts, UNSW.
- The eight ARTEXPRESS exhibitions include the work of 270 students from schools across NSW. The regional touring exhibitions are comprised of 142 works selected from the five metropolitan exhibitions and additional works selected for tour only. In all the ARTEXPRESS exhibitions there are 71 students from country NSW. The total number of pieces for the touring exhibitions is 1,798.
- There are 45 students in David Jones displayed in 37 windows in the Elizabeth and Market Street stores. The Art Gallery of NSW has 52 exhibitors, the College of Fine Art NSW has 40 students, the Sydney Olympic Park Authority is exhibiting 64 student works and Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre has 55 student’s works. The largest exhibition will be the regional tour that will continue until December 2006.
- The works of 71 students of the 142 represented in the touring exhibitions are from country schools.
- The regional exhibitions will comprise of a travelling exhibition that will visit two regional galleries beginning in Grafton and continuing on to Orange, a separate exhibition at Albury Regional Gallery and another at Wagga Wagga Regional Gallery.
- The ARTEXPRESS exhibition consists of the complete range of media submitted for the Higher School Certificate in Visual Arts and includes a comprehensive film screening program.
