Using ink on watercolour paper in the form of a concertina book, I have explored the struggles that ‘Ella’ faces in her battle with anorexia nervosa. The artwork reflects the nature of this condition and challenges the audience’s perceptions of mental illness. The bittersweet ending reflects the sense of hope and desperate wish for recovery, as well as the sense of fear that Ella faces as a result of the grip which this illness has over her.
