The main intent of my body of work is to explore the conventions and artistic practice used throughout art history to portray the concept of freedom. I have always been inspired by artworks with a sense of openness – almost giving the audience a glimpse into another tangible world, a peek into some story other than this reality. To replicate this feeling in my body of work, I decided to focus on the artistic methodologies of impressionism (a freedom in artistic practice through loose brushstrokes), and surrealism (a freedom in content – exploring the infinite breadth of the mind).
